This year, Radio LaB 97.1FM in association with the Beds Student Union Raise and Give Society are holding a special, one-off event to raise money for Red Nose Day.
From 14th March at 7pm for Radio LaB will be broadcasting live for 24 hours with 24 different DJs presenting 24 different programmes, taking you all the way through to Red Nose Day evening. The programmes will not just be transmitting from the studio, but from other parts of the area, including the Student Union Mezzanine Bar.
Radio LaB 97.1fm is a community station based at the University of Bedfordshire, and is managed by students. The majority of presenters on the station are also students at the university, with the rest of the time-slots filled by members of the community, including local DJs and teachers and students from the Luton Sixth Form College.
The station normally broadcasts for 24 hours, but goes on to an automatic playlist from midnight. On the 15th of March, presenters will be broadcasting throughout the night, with special one-off shows – all “doing something funny for money” in aid of Comic Relief.
We are encouraging listeners to donate via our JustGive page, and will have members of the RaG society with buckets in and around the university.
We have arranged for some fantastic prizes, donated to us from various local businesses around Luton to be given away throughout the 24 hours.
Prizes have been donated from: Cineworld, Namco, Edge nightclub, Liquid and Envy nightclub, The Park pub, The Brewery Tap, Toby Carvery, Dolce Vita restaurant. Benedict hair salon, Aviva Beauty, Luton Town, Bedford Blues rugby club and Luton rugby club.
