Silver & Gold Award Rush!

It’s been a busy November for Radio LaB – with successes at both the Student Radio Awards & Community Radio Awards.

Jose Goncalves won GOLD at the CRAs for his programme ‘Fighting Fear With Hope’ – which documented the work of Knife Crime charity ‘Off The Streets’ in Wellingborough. His success follows previous joy in the Journalism category for Laura Conder and James Montague.

You can watch Jose win the gold, and his powerful award-acceptance speech, on the video below:

Toby Crabb came away with a SILVER at the CRAs for the ‘Young Person Of The Year’ category. Toby was one of the Radio LaB student managers last year. He was also heavily involved, alongside Nathan Randle, in the ‘Student Radio Chart Show’ that won SILVER in the SRAs earlier this month:

Terry Lee, Senior Tutor in Radio & Audio, is delighted with the award wins:

Radio LaB is a student-led project – I am so proud to see our University of Bedfordshire team recognised for their hard-work and commitment in the last year. Our facilities are a great platform for volunteers to learn skills and gain valuable experiences whilst they study here – I hope this most recent success inspires other students, whatever they are studying, to use our community radio station to share their stories and have their say on air!
