It was a great night for Radio LaB at the ‘I Love Student Radio Awards 2016’ on Thursday 31st March in Cardiff, as the team came from Wales with the trophy for ‘Most Improved Student Radio Station’.
At the awards ceremony, which ‘aims to celebrate the commitment and contributions of individuals of student radio’, Radio LaB were also ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Best Community Outreach’ award for their project ‘The Exchange’, which was run in partnership with Age Concern Luton and Luton Sixth Form College. Radio LaB student managers Joe Burcham, Joe Flemons, Luke Gregory, Jacob Roch and Jack Stowell were all in Cardiff to receive the accolades.
Radio LaB Coordinator Terry Lee was delighted to hear about the success: “I’m so pleased for all our students that we’ve won this award and that we’ve been recognised as an improving station. Radio LaB is the culmination of hard work by many devoted individuals. As long as we continue to work hard at making a great noise, our station and our volunteers can go from strength to strength.”
